Selecting Patients
The patient search facility allows you to search for all patients registered at your practice (patients who were transferred out prior to your data being transferred to the Vision Data Hub are not available). You must be online to do this.
- From the Vision Anywhere front screen tap Search .
The search patient box displays. - Enter the patient details.
You can search for patients using the following criteria:- Surname
- Surname and forename
- Surname and year of birth
- Date of birth
- NHS/CHI Number
- Tap Search on the keypad
Matching patients display along with their date of birth, age, gender and NHS/CHI number. - Select the patient record, this displays in the Patient Summary screen.
Following the implementation of new web services for Vision Anywhere version 3.0, in the event of the Vision system being unavailable, patient records cannot be accessed unless previously downloaded.
If the practice system is offline, the following message displays when trying to access a patient:
“Sorry we are currently unable to access the patient’s medical record. Make sure your device is connected to the internet”
This message will be modified in a later release to reflect the exact issue.
The Vision Anywhere Home screen automatically displays your next booked appointment and a link to appointments booked for today. Patient records for all today's appointments automatically download to your device for offline use, when there is an active internet connection.
Next Appointment
Your next appointment displays with the booked time and a count down. The Map button plots the patient's address in google maps.
Simply tap the patient's name to open their record.
Appointments
Tap the arrow button to display the full Appointments list.
Tap the patient's name to open the Patient Summary view. Use the arrow buttons to view appointments for 7 days either side of today.
Downloading Patients for Offline Use
To save a patient to your device so you can access their record when offline:
- Search for a patient. See - Searching for Patients.
Matching patients display along with their date of birth, age, gender and NHS/CHI number. - Tap Select at the bottom of the screen.
- Tap the circle next to the patient(s) name.
- Tap the Download button.
Alternatively, you can download the patient whilst viewing the Patient Summary by selecting the Download option. A tick displays indicating the record is downloading.
- The downloaded record(s) are accessible from the Downloaded Patients tile on the Home screen.
Remember - Patients listed in the Appointments screen for today's appointments are automatically downloaded to your device when you have an internet connection.Note - Patients are automatically removed from the device after 72 hours.
If an encounter has been opened this will be automatically deleted after 30 days, if you have not logged into the app when connected to the internet or if you forget your password.
Any encounters saved on your device and not available from any other setting.
The Downloaded Patients tile on the Vision Anywhere Home screen tells you how many patients are currently stored on your device. This does not include patients who have booked appointments as these are automatically downloaded.
Open a downloaded patient.
- Tap the Downloaded Patients heading on the Vision Anywhere Home screen.
A list of downloaded patients displays. - Tap the required patient.

When you sign into Vision Anywhere and have an active internet connection, any patients who have appointments in your chosen book today, are automatically downloaded.
When viewing the Appointments list, "Downloading patient records" displays until the download completes.
When offline and the encounter is closed, a warning displays.
The Home screen also displays a count of open encounters.
